What should fans expect from the Christian Wood situation next?

If there is smoke, there is fire. Head coach Jason Kidd’s comments after the Oct. 29 loss to the Thunder raised plenty of eyebrows, and Tim MacMahon’s only gave fans some further proof. The Mavs reached the conference finals last season in part because of their chemistry. Everyone bought into their roles and did not try to do too much. Is Kidd just trying to get C-Wood to do that this season?

Wood needs to force the coach’s hand by playing well. The 6’10 big man needs to get the defensive scheme down and work his tail off on that end of the floor. Fans know C-Wood is a special offensive talent and his production will come there regardless.

The Dallas Mavericks need Christian Wood to be an impactful player if they are going to make another deep playoff run. He can average over 20 points and nine rebounds and win Sixth Man of the Year, but only if the 27-year-old is fully bought into that role both publicly and privately.

Will this drama become a bigger story or do things die down as Christian Wood settles in with the Dallas Mavericks? Expect his play to be so good that Jason Kidd has no choice but to play him more and everybody wins.
