Christian Wood has done everything right publicly since joining the Dallas Mavericks

Wood is not happy about his role. He believes he is being underplayed, and the 6’10 big man wants the opportunity to get more time on the court. JaVale McGee’s slow start has only strengthened Wood’s case that he should be in the opening five and playing over 30 minutes every night.

Wood has not cracked 30 minutes yet, and head coach Jason Kidd has talked about the 27-year-old having to earn the coaching staff’s trust. It took Reggie Bullock some time to do it just last season, but he barely left the floor in the playoffs. Kidd emphasizes defense, and Wood is adjusting to the new scheme and just needs to make overall improvements there.

In the media, Wood has never complained about his role. He has even talked about his excitement to be on a winning team for the first time in his NBA career. Yes, it is a contract year, but C-Wood knows proof that he can make a massive impact on a contending team does more for his value than putting up monster numbers on the squad with the worst record in the league.

So is there drama? If so, what should fans expect moving forward?
