Dallas Mavericks Jason Kidd and Christian Wood are no strangers to behind-the-scenes drama

Jason Kidd is on his third head coaching job of his career, and there has been plenty of drama in his previous stops. It was just over one year ago fans were upset by the signing because of his coaching track record. Mirin Fader’s book on Giannis Antetokounmpo only added fuel to the fire, but Kidd was fantastic in year one with the Mavs.

He has changed his coaching style significantly over the years, but issues have followed Kidd dating back to his college days. This would far from be his first behind-the-scenes drama.

Christian Wood is on his seventh NBA team since going undrafted in 2015 for a lot of reasons. Credit to the 27-year-old for fighting his way into the league, but things have not always gone well for the talented big man. He was suspended just last season following an incident in Houston.

Wood believes he is a starter and All-Star caliber player. He should. The 6’10 big man has worked hard on his game, and he is coming off two seasons where he averaged 19.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game. Those are massive numbers.

Coach Kidd and many others around the league believe he is best suited as a sixth man. Does Wood want to play 30-plus every night? Every player does, but he has embraced his current role publicly thus far.
