Center upgrade the Dallas Mavericks could trade for before the deadline: 1. Myles Turner

Turner has been mentioned in the trade rumors for years, and he still remains with the Indiana Pacers. Indiana has long coveted two first-round picks for the 6’11 big man, and they have never been able to secure the offer. The price could finally come down as Turner is on an $18 million expiring contract. Are the Pacers willing to sign him to a four-year $100 million extension? If not, Myles could be traded out of town before Feb. 9.

Turner is having arguably his best season. He averages 16.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks in 27.3 minutes per game. The Pacers are surprisingly sixth in the East at 13-12 after their first 25 games, so they could decide to add and try to stay in the race. If they go the other way, expect Turner to be one of the hottest commodities on the market.

The Mavericks could be interested in Turner because he can rebound, protect the rim, and space the floor. Head coach Jason Kidd loves defense and shooting. Dallas lives and dies behind the 3-point line, so adding a stretch five that can anchor their defense could be massive.
