Center upgrade the Dallas Mavericks could trade for before the deadline: 2. Jakob Poeltl

The Spurs have made Poeltl available on the market, but the asking price is not cheap. San Antonio wants two first-round picks, according to the latest rumors from LJ Ellis of Spurs Talk. He is one of the two best centers on the market, but two first-round picks are a hefty ask for a player that has never sniffed the All-Star conversation.

Last season, Poeltl averaged 13.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 blocks in 29.0 minutes per game. He protects the rim, rebounds, and provides a strong pick-and-roll partner for any guard. Poeltl would be a fantastic addition to the Mavericks but are they willing to meet the asking price?

They are not giving up two first-round picks for the expiring contract of Jakob Poeltl. The 7’1 big man will be an unrestricted free agent next summer. Most teams will trade for him willing to offer an extension. Dallas would have to give up the draft capital and be ready to offer a massive contract to the 7’1 big man before he ever played a second for the Mavericks.

Jakob Poeltl is a name to watch at the trade deadline. Do the Spurs get their asking price? Does it come down? There are plenty of questions that will be answered.
