2. Will Dallas Mavericks sign Goran Dragic?
Rumors that Dragic is coming to Dallas have been out there for over one year now. The veteran guard thought he was going to be a free agent last summer, but the Heat picked up his player option to deal him to Toronto in the Kyle Lowry sign-and-trade.
Fans expect him to sign with Dallas after he was bought out, but it did not come until after the trade deadline. The Mavericks had already acquired Spencer Dinwiddie, and they did not have a ton of minutes available for Dragic, so he opted to join the Nets.
With the impending departure of Jalen Brunson, the Mavericks need another ball-handler and shot creator that can be a leader in the locker room. It is the perfect role for Dragic.
The 36-year-old is a friend and mentor for Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic. He came out of retirement to re-join the Slovenia National Team to play with Luka. The two are close and could do special things together in the NBA.
Goran Dragic is best suited for a 25-minute per game role during the regular season with the ability to expand that in the postseason. The Mavericks need veterans that can hit shots and make plays, and fans can expect Dragic to shine in that role.
