Bold prediction for 2021-2022 Dallas Mavericks: 1. Mavs win the West

The Western Conference feels wide open entering the 2021-2022 season. The Utah Jazz had the best regular-season record last year, but have failed to make it past the second round of the playoffs since 2007. Phoenix reached the NBA Finals in 2021, but banking on 36-year-old Chris Paul to stay healthy all season and through a deep playoff run is risky.

The Lakers traded for Russell Westbrook to form a “Big 3” in Los Angeles, but there are questions to be answered. How does their spacing work with Russ on the floor? Can he and LeBron co-exist on offense? How does a team that built its title squad around defense perform with so many new pieces? James and Anthony Davis were both injured last season, and health is not guaranteed this year.

The Nuggets and Clippers are both already playing without star players and will be for most if not all of the regular season. Asking Kawhi Leonard or Jamal Murray to come back and lead their team to the NBA Finals is going to be difficult.

The door is wide open for the Dallas Mavericks. They had the LA Clippers on the ropes in the first round last year, and they finally break through to win in the first round in 2022. The Mavs keep the momentum going and win the Western Conference for the first time since 2011. It is going to be a special season in Dallas, so be sure to tune in and enjoy the games.
