The Dallas Mavericks exceeded all expectations this preseason as new head coach Jason Kidd has the team playing aggressively and enjoying the game. The Mavs won all four exhibition contests with superstar Luka Doncic looking locked in for the start of the regular season.

The Mavs qualified for the playoffs for two straight years, but have not advanced past the first round since winning the title in 2011. Kristaps Porzingis was relegated to an ancillary role last year as Dallas fell to the Clippers in seven games. The Unicorn is excited and energized about his fresh role and additional freedom in coach Kidd’s system.

Fans' excitement and expectations have only grown with the team’s preseason success. Coach Kidd has altered the Mavs defensive scheme and added some new wrinkles to the offense as the organization looks to take that next step.

The Mavericks are still climbing. Luka Doncic is only 22, and the only players on their roster over 30 are Dwight Powell, Reggie Bullock, and Boban Marjanovic. The best is still yet to come from Dallas.

Expect Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dorian Finney-Smith to shoot over 40 percent from 3-point range this season, while Powell has a career year.
