5 bargain bin free agent centers the Dallas Mavericks should target

Bargain bin free-agent center Dallas Mavericks should target: 3. Bismack Biyombo
Biyombo is the perfect reserve big man for the Mavericks. Fans saw what he could do for the Phoenix Suns in their second-round series against Dallas as he offers a big body that can protect the rim, rebound, and score inside. The 29-year-old will be searching for a veteran minimum contract this offseason, and he is comfortable playing a situational role off the bench.
Biyombo averaged 5.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks in 14.1 minutes per game last season. The Suns had Deandre Ayton and JaVale McGee, so Biyombo was the team’s third center for most of the year. He still found some pick-and-roll chemistry with Chris Paul and the Suns' guards as he scored 1.12 points per possession on those plays, which was above league average.
Dallas should be searching for a big man that can play spot minutes off the bench to grab a few rebounds and protect the rim. He will come in handy during the long regular season, and his role will likely diminish in the playoffs. Still, having a big body to insert in a key rebounding situation would be a plus.
All three Suns centers head into free agency this offseason, and Biyombo is not the only one Dallas could target.
