Bargain bin free-agent center Dallas Mavericks should target: 5. Robin Lopez
The veteran center is an unrestricted free agent this offseason after playing for his eighth team in 14 years. Lopez was the backup center for the Magic, but Orlando won the draft lottery, and they are expected to take a big man with the number one overall pick. That leaves Robin Lopez searching for playing time on another team next season.
The 34-year-old big man averaged 7.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks in 17.0 minutes per game while shooting 55.3 percent from the field. Lopez will provide quality rotation minutes, and the seven-footer is a strong locker room presence. He wants to be back in Orlando to keep enjoying Disney World, but the Magic are likely to move on if they select a big man in the draft.
Lopez provides a big body that can set screens, rebound, and protect the rim. He does not rate as outstanding in any of those areas, but the veteran will give his team quality minutes.
Robin Lopez can likely be had for the veteran minimum this offseason as there is a strong list of big men hitting the open market. He will be competing with Dwight Howard, Andre Drummond, Hassan Whiteside, Dewayne Dedmon, Gorgui Dieng, and others with Lopez being the best fit for Dallas as they are prioritizing chemistry and fit with Luka Doncic. The 34-year-old big man will not complain about his role or playing time and will be a positive locker room presence no matter the situation.
