Dallas Mavericks advantage over Memphis Grizzlies: Luka
If the Mavs want to win the Southwest Division for the second time in three years, they will need to rely on Luka Doncic to carry them over the Grizzlies. Memphis has a budding star of their own in Ja Morant, but there will be no question about who the best player on the floor is when these two organizations match up.
The Grizzlies are a deep team, but they are already dealing with injuries. Jaren Jackson Jr. is likely to miss the start of the season as he recovers from a stress fracture in his foot. Still, Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks give Memphis plenty of scoring and wing defense next to Morant. The Grizzlies will be a feared team that expects to finish in the top four in the Western Conference again this season.
They have zero answers for stopping Doncic, though. The Mavericks superstar averaged 30.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game against Memphis last season on 53.0 percent shooting from the field. Dallas will need number 77 to produce similar numbers if they plan on topping the Grizzlies this season.
Luka Doncic is the Dallas Mavericks' advantage over every team in the league. The 23-year-old superstar is nearly always the best player on the floor, and it gives his team a chance to win. Is the supporting cast around Luka good enough to finish in the top four and win the Southwest Division? Stay tuned to find out.
