Offseason goal for Dallas Mavericks after Christian Wood trade: 2. Get Luka in top shape

Luka Doncic had a busy summer of basketball but admittedly was not in peak condition coming into the 2021-2022 season. The Mavs got off to a slow start as Luka struggled by his incredibly high standards. It was not until after he missed ten games in December that Doncic played his best basketball.

The 23-year-old is already in the gym working on his game. He knows that he cannot come to training camp out of shape again. The Mavericks superstar needs to dedicate himself this offseason to improving his game and conditioning. They cannot afford to have him running out of steam late in games.

Doncic carries a tremendous offensive burden on a nightly basis. He is the team’s top scorer, playmaker, rebounder, and shot creator. The Mavs would love to get him more help this summer to lighten his workload and get Luka into the best shape of his life to be ready to handle a massive workload from day one.

If Luka Doncic enters the 2022-2023 season in peak condition, he will be the favorite to win MVP. The 23-year-old is unstoppable when he is at the top of his game, and number 77 made his case for best player in the league during the Dallas Mavericks postseason run.
