The Dallas Mavericks made a surprise run to the Western Conference Finals, but Luka Doncic and company are not satisfied. They want to take that next step and become an annual title contender.

The Mavs wasted little time in taking their first swing as they traded for Christian Wood before the Warriors won the championship. Dallas needed a center upgrade, and they were looking to clear some space at the backend of their roster to improve their depth. The Rocket offered both, which made the deal too good to pass up.

The Mavericks have their starting center and accomplished one offseason goal before draft night, but they are not done. Dallas has to add at least two more players, and they have a key free agent to re-sign. Here is a look at what the Mavs need to accomplish this summer.

Dallas is planning on a faster start in year two under head coach Jason Kidd, but the Western Conference will be tougher with the Clippers and Nuggets getting healthy. Expectations increased in Dallas, and general manager and president of basketball operations Nico Harrison has work to do to improve their roster.
