Dallas Mavericks player facing make or break season: 1. Kristaps Porzingis
KP may be the biggest factor in determining the Mavs postseason success. Everyone knows Luka Doncic is going to show up and perform at an elite level, but his supporting cast must improve for Dallas to go on a run. Porzingis cannot be standing in the corner on offense and failing to protect the rim if the Mavericks are going to advance.
Coach Jason Kidd has KP playing a different role this season, and the Unicorn is excited about it. Porzingis will have more freedom on the offensive end of the floor and additional help on defense. The goal is getting KP back to his All-Star form, but fans will have to wait and see the results.
There was trade chatter after the Unicorn’s performance in the 2021 postseason, and if he fails to be the team’s second star again this year, that noise will grow exponentially. The Mavericks may be left with no choice but to move on from Kristaps Porzingis as they look to build a championship contender around Luka Doncic making this a make-or-break season for the Unicorn.
The Dallas Mavericks are facing a lot of unknowns as the 2021-2022 season tips off leaving fans more than intrigued. Multiple players facing a make or break season will only add to the excitement, so fans must stay tuned.
