Dallas Mavericks lineup Jason Kidd has to try: 1. Bench ball-handling
It will be interesting to see how coach Kidd staggers the minutes this season. Luka Doncic plays his best when he rests in the early second and fourth quarters, but Kristaps Porzingis also prefers that minute’s pattern. Who will J-Kidd rest and when? When the Mavericks superstar plays with the bench, they need to put more playmaking around him to keep him fresh.
PG: Luka Doncic
SG: Jalen Brunson
SF: Sterling Brown
PF: Maxi Kleber
C: Willie Cauley-Stein
The Mavs had a massive 16.1 net rating in the 220 minutes Cauley-Stein and Kleber played together last season, but imagine that pairing with shooting and scorers around them.
Brunson will be looking to take another step forward in his fourth NBA season. The 25-year-old must improve his ball-handling and playmaking abilities while maintaining his ability to sink difficult shots.
Luka Doncic has a strong pick and roll partner in Cauley-Stein and three capable shooters spreading the floor. The 22-year-old could make magic happen with his lineup.
These are just a few of the lineups Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd will attempt this season. The organization may not be done making moves either, so keep checking back to The Smoking Cuban daily for all the latest.
