Under-the-radar Dallas Mavericks trade target: 1. Richaun Holmes

Holmes was the Kings' starting center before the Domantas Sabonis trade last season. The 6’10 big man averaged 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 29.2 minutes per game during the 2020-2021 campaign. He is a strong rebounder and roll man that finishes well around the rim. Holmes may not be the best defensive anchor, but he can be a productive center.

The 29-year-old has fallen out of Mike Brown’s rotation in Sacramento, and he still has two years and $24.9 million left on his contract after this season. Trading him for anything would be a win for the Kings, and Holmes is rumored to be readily available before the deadline.

The Mavericks want a center upgrade. He would improve their rebounding and rim protection, even if Holmes is not the best defensive anchor. Would he fit into the team’s defensive scheme? It took Christian Wood a few months to get the principals down, and that could be the worry of trading for Holmes or any other big man before the deadline.

Richaun Holmes will likely find a new home, but will it be in Dallas? He is one of the many names to watch as Feb. 9 approaches.
