2022 NBA Draft mock #8: Minnesota Timberwolves: A.J. Griffin
Griffin injured his knee in October, but that might be the only thing that holds him back this season. The 18-year-old missed time with injuries during his junior and senior years of high school too, but he is an exciting prospect that could push his way into the top five.
Griffin teamed up with fellow top prospect Paolo Banchero as they look to lead the Blue Devils to an NCAA championship this season. The 6’6 wing has an NBA-ready body and some polish to his game.
His tape is hard to find given his injuries, but when he is on the court there is a ton to get excited about. He has plus length and competes hard on the defensive end of the floor. Griffin can also handle the ball and make plays coupled with a strong shooting stroke. When healthy, the 6’6 wing is one of the most talented players in this class.
Griffin has strong bloodlines too. His father is former Dallas Mavericks player and current Toronto Raptors assistant coach Adrian Griffin. Teams will be lining up to add a versatile and talented wing with Minnesota landing him in this mock draft because the uncertainty surrounding his injuries causes his stock to slip slightly.
