2022 NBA Draft mock #3: Detroit Pistons: Jalen Duren

The rebuilding Pistons are struggling out of the gate, and fans have barely seen 2021 number one overall pick Cade Cunningham play yet. Detroit owes this pick to the Thunder if it falls outside the top 16, but they appear to be in zero danger of losing it.

Big men dominate the top of this draft with Duren being listed at 6’10 and 250 pounds with a reported 7’5 wingspan heading into his freshman season at Memphis. He is also one of the youngest players in this class as he will not turn 19 until Nov. 2022. Duren chose to reclassify and head to Memphis after being the top high school prospect in the class of 2022.

Scouts love his defensive potential and believe he can be a center that protects the rim and defends on the perimeter. They will be watching closely to see how Duren performs at the NCAA level, but if he continues his growth, the 6’10 big man could be in the running to be the top pick.

On the offensive end, the 17-year-old should be a threat in the pick and roll as he keeps expanding the range on his jumper. Scouts are excited to see how he performs on this end of the floor, especially if he can consistently knock down shots.

The Detroit Pistons are ecstatic to pick a big man to form a dynamic duo with Cunningham as they quickly grab two players with immense potential in an attempt to end their rebuild.
