2022 NBA Draft mock #27: Philadelphia 76ers: Caleb Love
The Sixers are still facing one of the biggest dilemmas in the NBA as Ben Simmons continues to miss games, despite being fully healthy. Philadelphia has won eight of their first ten without the three-time All-Star, but the situation needs to be resolved at some point soon. What the Sixers get in return for the 25-year-old will shake up their roster and change their needs in this draft.
Currently, Philadelphia could use another ball-handler and playmaker with Simmons on the sidelines. This draft is not flush with point guards, but Love could blossom into a difference-maker and 2022 first-round pick.
He struggled during his first season at UNC as the teenager averaged 10.5 points, 3.6 assists, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 27.7 minutes per game. Love shot just 31.6 percent from the field, including 26.6 percent from 3-point range. The 6’4 guard did showcase that he can handle the ball, make plays, and play solid defense.
Caleb Love will be looking to improve his jumper and prove that he deserves to be a first-round draft choice as he leads the Tar Heels on a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. Love’s size and NBA-ready body will have teams interested, but he needs to improve to land in the top 30.
