2022 NBA Draft mock #15: Washington Wizards: J.D. Davison
Davison will look to be the next University of Alabama point guard selected in the lottery following Josh Primo, Kira Lewis Jr., and Collin Sexton since 2018. He just misses here, but Bama’s offense is built for a stellar point guard, and Davison is an explosive athlete with plenty of leaping ability. In a class looking searching for top picks, the 6’3 guard will have every opportunity to move up.
The 19-year-old needs to work on his jumper, but he profiles as a lead ball-handler that can make plays and will have no issues finishing around the basket. He is no stranger to the highlight reel, and his game often pops off the screen.
It will take some time for Davison to reach his potential. He was not playing at an elite high school, so his game may not be as polished as some of the players drafted around him. His athletic chops, playmaking ability, and defensive intensity make him an intriguing prospect, though.
The Washington Wizards traded for Spencer Dinwiddie during the offseason, but they could use another ball-handler and creator in their rotation to play alongside Bradley Beal. J.D. Davison has plenty of upside and could work his way into a top-five player from this class.
