2022 NBA Draft mock #11: Indiana Pacers: Dyson Daniels
The 6’6 guard out of Australia is listed at just 185 pounds, but there is a ton of love about him. Daniels has a 6’10 wingspan and is already showcasing a versatile skill set for the G League Ignite. He had 22 points, six rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 35 minutes against the South Bay Lakers on Nov. 5.
Daniels also shined at the FIBA Under 19-World Cup where he averaged 14.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.3 steals in 26.6 minutes per over seven games in the competition. The 18-year-old is a strong passer with an impressive floater, and he will get plenty of opportunities to shine playing for the Ignite this season.
Daniels loves to compete on the defensive end of the floor and could already be one of the best perimeter stoppers in this class. Will it translate to facing professionals in the G League this season? It should give him a leg up when making the jump to the NBA.
Long-time Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle is now leading the Pacers. Fans know he wants to shoot threes and take care of the ball. Carlisle is not a fan of playing rookies but grabbing a talented 6’6 wing that can handle the ball and make plays is always a strong move. Expect Dyson Daniels to keep climbing up draft boards this season.
