2022 NBA Draft mock #10: Toronto Raptors: Peyton Watson
Watson has a high ceiling, but his situation could hurt his draft stock a bit. He is about to begin his first season at UCLA, but the Bruins have two returning starting wings that are both projected to be drafted in 2022. Watson has the most long-term potential of the three players, but will the Bruins feature him over Jaime Jaquez and Johnny Juzang?
Watson can handle the ball and could turn into a 6’8 point forward at the next level. He has a versatile skill set that was on display in his limited playing time at the FIBA Under-19 World Cup. The 19-year-old competes hard on both ends of the floor and should be a plus defender in time.
Peyton Watson could be a top pick on draft night or fall outside the lottery. He has tremendous upside, but he needs time to develop. With two talented wings on the Bruins roster, it could be difficult for him to shine.
The Toronto Raptors love length, versatility, and upside. They have hit on Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, and early returns suggest Scottie Barnes in recent drafts, so do not be surprised to see the Raptors take another one in Peyton Watson if they are selecting inside the top ten in June.
