Meet Dallas Mavericks summer league roster: Feron Hunt- F

Dallas fans may be familiar with Hunt after he played three seasons at SMU. The 22-year-old averaged 11.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 0.9 blocks in 28.2 minutes per game as a junior. The 6’8 forward is an impressive athlete that has length on his side.

Hunt went undrafted in 2021 but is the type of player Dallas loves to try to develop. He is a high-energy and effort talent that competes on both ends of the floor. The 6’8 forward brings the defense, but his offensive game is a work-in-progress.

The Mavericks will look to iron out his jumper. Hunt connected on just 25.0 percent of his 108 career NCAA 3-point attempts. The 22-year-old did not shoot at volume and struggled to hit from long range. Coach Greg St. Jean noted that Hunt has improved his jumper, so it will be something to keep an eye on in Las Vegas.

Feron Hunt will have to stand out in the summer league to earn the Dallas Mavericks’ second two-way spot. Do not be surprised to see him playing for the Texas Legends this season because the Mavs will want to keep a strong defensive player with a developing game in their system for as long as possible.
