Meet Dallas Mavericks summer league roster: Nate Hinton- G
Hinton was on a two-way contract with the Mavs last season after going undrafted in 2020. He was limited to mop-up duties and played just 93 total NBA minutes last season. The 6’5 wing saw action in consecutive contests just seven times all year.
The Mavericks dream of turning Hinton into a pesky defensive wing that rebounds well. In his two seasons at the University of Houston, he showcased plenty of potential and a developing 3-point shot. The 22-year-old transforming into a 3-and-D wing could make him steal for Dallas.
Hinton played in the G League bubble last season. The Texas Legends opted out, so the organization had to find him a team. Hinton was barely playing for the Long Island Nets, so the Mavericks helped him get a larger opportunity with the Santa Cruz Warriors. Over ten games, the 22-year-old averaged 10.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 23.0 minutes a night. The Mavs are hoping to see an improved version of Hinton in Vegas.
The Dallas Mavericks re-signed Nate Hinton to a two-way contract for the 2021-2022 season. They love what he brings to the team both on and off the court. Hinton was the team’s hype man on the bench last season. Hopefully, the on-court production matches his energy and enthusiasm.
