Dallas Mavericks small forward depth chart after free agent adds

The Mavs have options at this position too. Tim Hardaway Jr. and Sterling Brown can slide down if Dallas decides to go small. Dorian Finney-Smith will also see plenty of minutes at the three along with these two men.

Starter: Reggie Bullock

Bullock agreed to a three-year deal worth $30.5 million with the Mavs on the opening night of free agency. The 6’6 wing has been a starter for each of the last four seasons. He is an elite shooter that gives Dallas a much-needed 3-and-D option. Coach Jason Kidd will play the matchups, but Bullock should be a key piece of their rotation in every game.

Backup: Josh Green

Green never found a consistent role as a rookie. The 20-year-old played a total of 445 minutes with the Mavs last season. He provides a spark with his energy and effort. Coach Kidd talked about his excitement in helping develop Green during his introductory press conference.

Expect Josh Green to play a much larger role with the Dallas Mavericks in his second NBA season. His Olympic experience coupled with a year of development should have the 20-year-old ready. Fans will be looking for improvements in his defense and jumper during the 2021-2022 campaign.
