Dallas Mavericks shooting guard depth chart after free agent adds
The Mavs have solid depth at this position. They can move Brunson or Burke next to Luka in the backcourt if needed, but Dallas has three steady options for head coach Jason Kidd to choose from here.
Starter: Tim Hardaway Jr.
The Mavs re-signed Hardaway Jr. to a four-year deal. He will be the team’s third scorer and an important floor spacer. The 29-year-old could shoot over 40 percent from 3-point range for the first time in his career in Dallas improved offense.
Backup: Sterling Brown
Brown agreed to a two-year deal worth $6.2 million with the Mavericks this offseason. The 6’5 wing gives them more size and shooting. He sank 42.3 percent from 3-point range last season in Houston. Brown needs to prove that was no fluke and play solid defense to get consistent minutes on the Mavs.
Third-string: Tyrell Terry
The 2020 second-round draft pick will be the star of the Mavericks Las Vegas Summer League roster. Terry is still developing, but he as a lethal outside shot. The 20-year-old needs more time to develop. He could be an important contributor for the Texas Legends but do not expect to see him crack the Dallas Mavericks rotation next season unless injuries strike.
