Free agent still available Dallas Mavericks should target: 1. John Collins

***UPDATE: John Collins agreed to a five-year deal worth $125 million to return to the Atlanta Hawks on Aug. 4, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

Collins entered the offseason as one of the marquee free agents, and there has been virtually no chatter. The 23-year-old is a restricted free agent, so the Hawks can match any offer. A fair market value deal puts Atlanta into the luxury tax. Are they willing to pay to keep Collins?

Could the Dallas Mavericks swoop him and steal him? John Collins solves their rebounding, rim protection, and scoring issues almost immediately. He would be a fantastic fit as both a roll man and floor spacer. The Mavs could take turns letting Collins and KP set screens for Luka Doncic. Dallas would be one of the best offenses in the league.

It appears Collins is headed back to the Hawks. How much money will he get? Can the Dallas Mavericks or another team convince Atlanta to give him up in a sign-and-trade? The Mavs should be trying to find out because Collins is the marquee acquisition Dallas was planning for at the start of free agency.
