Plan B free agent option for Dallas Mavericks: 5. Danny Green
Green checks nearly every box in Mavs president of basketball operations Nico Harrison’s lists of wants on his team. The 6’6 wing is an elite shooter that offers plenty of defensive intensity and versatility. Green can guard any player on the court, and he plays his role.
Last season, the 35-year-old averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 28.0 minutes per game. He shot 40.5 percent from 3-point range and started 69 games for the Sixers. Philadelphia finished with the best record in the Eastern Conference, thanks to new additions Green and former Maverick Seth Curry filling key roles.
Danny Green has won three championships in his career. including back-to-back in 2019 and 2020 on two different teams. The Mavericks would love to add his experience and leadership as they look to take the next step with Luka Doncic at the helm.
The Dallas Mavericks almost signed Green when he was a free agent in 2019. Kawhi Leonard choosing the Clippers opened the door for the 6’6 wing to land with the Lakers. Expect Dallas to be interested in Danny Green again if their first options fall through this offseason.
