Free-agent that pairs well with Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis: 2. Mike Conley
Conley would check a ton of boxes for the Mavs this offseason. The veteran point guard can play on or off the ball. He is a career 37.9 percent 3-point shooter that excels off the catch. Conley averaged 6.0 assists per game last season and has no issue running an offense.
The 33-year-old would be a fantastic addition for Dallas. The All-Star could be the secondary creator when Luka is on the floor, but take over when the 22-year-old superstar needs a rest. The Clippers dominated Dallas in the playoffs in the minutes Doncic rested. Conley would keep the offense rolling and make Kristaps Porzingis a dangerous offensive weapon every second he plays.
The All-Star point guard is also an underrated defender that finished tied for 16th in FiveThirtyEight’s Defensive RAPTOR last season. Conley is one of the best in the league at creating steals, and he has no issues checking the opposition’s lead ball-handler.
New head coach Jason Kidd is going to value playmakers. The Hall of Famer was one of the best in the league for nearly two decades. Adding Mike Conley would give J-Kidd the freedom to attack and run some exotic sets. The Dallas Mavericks would be one of the best offenses in the league.
