Dallas Mavericks with the most trade value: 4. Dorian Finney-Smith
Finney-Smith went undrafted coming out of the University of Florida in 2016. The Mavs signed him as a summer league player and training camp invite. Doe-Doe earned his spot on the roster and has not stopped improving since that moment.
He just finished his second season as a key starter for the Mavericks. Finney-Smith is often tasked with guarding the opposition’s leading scorer. He has improved his outside shooting and transformed himself into the 3-and-D wing every team covets. The 28-year-old is in the middle of his prime and should take another small forward in the 2021-2022 season.
Finney-Smith is entering the final years of his contract where he is owed just $4 million next season. The only starters making less are still on their rookie deals. First-year players picked in the top eight will make more than $4 million next season. Doe-Doe’s deal is an absolute steal for the Mavs.
Teams would be lining up to acquire a 3-and-D wing at his salary. Dorian Finney-Smith would rank higher, but the Dallas Mavericks only have one more season of team control. Expect Doe-Doe to play an important role in 2022 as the team attempts to leap into title contention.
