Draft prospect Dallas Mavericks should trade to acquire: 4. JT Thor
JT Thor is a 6’10 big man from Auburn University. During his lone season with the Tigers, Thor averaged 9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 23.0 minutes per game.
The 18-year-old is an extremely versatile big man on both ends of the floor. He can shoot from almost anywhere on the court, and his size makes it almost impossible to contest his jumper. Thorn works well under the basket, moves in the paint with ease, and can finish around the cup at will.
Being skilled offensively is just the start for this young man, he is also outstanding on the defensive end of the court. With Thor’s length, it makes it easy for him to defend inside the paint. What stands out most is his ability to guard wings. He has the footwork and athletic ability to be the switchable and versatile defender NBA teams crave.
Thor is a fringe first-round talent, so the Dallas Mavericks’ chances of landing the Swiss army knife from Auburn are slim. That being said, Thor’s skills are still developing, and he is multiple years from reaching his full potential.
JT Thor draws comparisons to Jonathan Isaac and Jerami Grant. Those are big names to live up to, but the teenager surely has the potential.
