The Dallas Mavericks are coming off of a first-round playoff loss at the hands of the LA Clippers for the second straight year. Even though they forced a Game 7, Dallas has a bitter taste in their mouth after winning the first two games in Los Angeles.

The Mavs need to improve the role players around Luka Doncic. Building through free agency is going to be costly as the superstar is set to sign a super-max deal. The cheapest way to get quality role players will be through the draft.

Dallas does not currently hold a pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. They shipped their first-round pick to the New York Knicks in the Kristaps Porzingis trade, and the Mavs dealt their second-rounder to New Orleans for J.J. Redick and Nicolo Melli. Dallas could trade back into the draft, though.

Kidd knows just what buttons to press to get young guys started.

Here are five prospects the Dallas Mavericks should target if they acquire a second round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
