The Dallas Mavericks were knocked out in the first round of the playoffs by the LA Clippers for the second straight year. It has already been an offseason of change for the organization. Donnie Nelson and Rick Carlisle both left their positions after more than three decades of combined service. Owner Mark Cuban hired Nico Harrison as the team’s general manager and Jason Kidd takes over as head coach. The Mavs new leadership is set to tackle their first offseason together as they look to build a title contender around superstar Luka Doncic.

They will have room to make moves. Dallas can create $34 million in space by renouncing seven cap holds on free agents, declining Willie Cauley-Stein’s team option, and moving on from Josh Richardson. The Mavericks must decide on what to do with Tim Hardaway Jr. He has a $28 million cap hold, so Dallas needs to choose between re-signing the unrestricted free agent or chasing the marquee names available. They should have some cap space either way, plus their mid-level exception to improve their roster.

Dallas should be looking to round out their roster with veterans that can help them win in the playoffs. They have holes to fill and need to plug them via free agency. Here are five under-the-radar free agents the Mavericks should target.
