Free agent power forward for Dallas Mavericks to target: 4. JaMychal Green
JaMychal Green is the veteran role player every playoff team needs. He brings experience and leadership, while not trying to do too much on the court.
The 6’8 forward averaged 8.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in 19.3 minutes last season with the Denver Nuggets. Even though he didn’t average a lot of points, he is a proven finisher at the rim and rebounder. Green is the physical presence on the glass that the Mavericks have been missing.
The 31-year-old is a stretch four. He is a career 38.0 percent 3-point shooter, but his percentage has risen to 39.5 percent over the last three seasons combined. Green would benefit from plenty of open looks with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis drawing the defense too.
He is not the flashiest player available in free agency, but with the veteran presence and tenacity Green brings to the floor, the 6’8 big man could be a “gem in the rough.”
JaMychal Green will not be at the top of the Dallas Mavericks’ free-agent wish list, but he would be a fantastic signing as a role player coming off the bench on a veteran minimum deal.
