Free agent that would be a mistake for Dallas Mavericks: 2. Victor Oladipo
The Mavs would love to sign an All-Star to pair with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis this offseason, but Oladipo should not be the one. He has played a total of 88 games over the last three seasons combined. The 6’4 guard was third-team All-NBA and All-Defensive first-team in 2018, but a string of knee and quad injuries have derailed his career. He had quad surgery again in May and is hoping to be cleared in November.
The Mavericks would love to put a stout defensive wing in the backcourt next to Luka Doncic. A prime Oladipo makes for a fantastic fit, but it appears his best days are behind him. The 29-year-old has had multiple surgeries and continues to be unable to stay on the floor.
Oladipo was traded twice during the 2020-2021 season for a reason. Teams are intrigued by his talent and All-NBA potential. The Dallas Mavericks cannot get lured in this offseason. The 6’4 guard will not be ready for training camp and has struggled to stay healthy for three straight years. It would be a massive mistake for the Dallas Mavericks to sign unrestricted free agent Victor Oladipo this offseason.
