2021 NBA Draft mock #4: Toronto Raptors: Jalen Suggs
The Raptors jumped up into the top four after having the seventh-worst record in the league. They will be looking to bounce back and make the playoffs in 2022. Toronto is fresh off having their seven-year postseason streak snapped. Kyle Lowry heads into free agency leaving the Raptors with multiple crucial decisions to make this offseason.
The top four appear to have separated themselves in this draft. The Raptors get an outstanding talent in Suggs. The 20-year-old would be the number one overall pick in several recent drafts. He nearly led Gonzaga to an undefeated season, while producing some outstanding numbers.
Suggs averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds. 4.5 assists, and 1.9 steals in 28.9 minutes per game. He shot 50.3 percent from the field and 75.4 percent on his free throws. The 6’4 guard connected on just 33.7 percent of his 3-point attempts. His jumper needs to improve, but Suggs has an impressive skill set coupled with fantastic leadership ability.
Pairing him in the backcourt with Fred VanVleet will leave the Raptors a bit undersized, but they will compete hard on both ends of the floor. Adding Jalen Suggs improves Toronto’s present and future. He could go as high as number two overall, but the Raptors are ecstatic to snag him here.
