2021 NBA Draft mock #30: Utah Jazz: Miles McBride
McBride took a massive leap forward during his second season at West Virginia. He averaged 15.9 points, 4.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.9 steals in 34.2 minutes per game. The 20-year-old shot 43.1 percent from the field, 41.4 percent on his threes, and 81.3 percent from the foul line last season.
McBride measured at 6’2.5 with a 6’9 wingspan at the combine. He competes hard on the defensive end of the floor. McBride is not afraid to pick up his man in the backcourt, and he never gives an inch. The 20-year-old is one of the best perimeter defenders in the class.
He showcased some scoring, ball-handling, playmaking, and rebounding upside this season. McBride relies too much on his outside shooting, which he struggled with as a freshman. There are questions about his jumper. If McBride can keep shooting over 40 percent, he will go down as one of the steals of the 2021 NBA Draft.
The Utah Jazz would love to add a defensive guard to pair with Jordan Clarkson in their bench backcourt. Miles McBride fits that bill. The Jazz have success developing talent, so do not be surprised to see this pick blossom in Utah.
The 2021 NBA Draft promises to be a wild event that is full of surprises. Fans will not want to miss it on July 29.
