2021 NBA Draft mock #29: Phoenix Suns: JT Thor
Thor also took a massive leap up draft boards during the combine. He measured at 6’9 with a 7’3 wingspan. The 18-year-old has a massive 9’2 standing reach. Thor also displayed some improved shooting mechanics in Chicago that has NBA scouts buzzing.
During his lone season at Auburn, Thor averaged 9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 23.0 minutes per game. He shot 44.0 percent from the field, 29.7 percent on his 3-point tries, and 74.1 percent from the free-throw line. Teams will be dreaming of turning him into a rim-protecting stretch four in the NBA.
The Phoenix Suns have been one of the better teams in the league at developing talent in recent years. Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, and Mikal Bridges all blossomed in Phoenix. Their development coupled with the addition of Chris Paul turned the Suns into title contenders overnight. Phoenix could add a high upside prospect with the hopes of developing him into their next standout.
JT Thor fits that mold. The teenager showed plenty of untapped potential this season, and teams will be eyeing him in the last first round. The Suns cannot pass on him at 29 overall.
