2021 NBA Draft mock #2: Houston Rockets: Jalen Green
The Rockets had the worst record in the league this season, and are just beginning a rebuild. The lottery allowed them to hold onto their selection, but they slipped to number two. Houston will have a difficult decision to make between three players at this spot.
Green bypassed the traditional college route to play professionally in the G League. He was phenomenal during their bubble season. The 19-year-old averaged 17.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.5 steals in 32.0 minutes per game. Green shot 46.1 percent from the field, 36.5 percent on his threes, and 82.9 percent from the foul line.
The Rockets have Christian Wood and appear most likely to grab a guard/wing with this selection. Green is a fantastic athlete that profiles as a number one scoring option. His efficiency and scoring ability against older professionals was impressive. Green looks ready to make an instant impact and has the upside to be a multiple-time All-Star.
Jalen Green is one of the most coveted players in this class. The teenager edges Evan Mobley and Jalen Suggs to be the Houston Rockets selection here. All three profile as outstanding talents, but Green’s scoring, ball handling, and athletic abilities earn him the nod.
