2021 NBA Draft mock #1: Detroit Pistons: Cade Cunningham
Cunningham is the consensus choice to go number one overall. The 19-year-old averaged 20.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.6 steals in 35.4 minutes per game during his lone season at Oklahoma State. He shot 43.8 percent from the field, 40.0 percent on his threes, and 84.6 percent from the foul line.
Cunningham went on J.J. Redick’s The Old Man and the Three podcast and compared his game to Luka Doncic’s. See the clip below.
He is 6’8 with an incredible skill set. Cunningham can score, make plays, rebound, handle the ball, pass, run an offense, space the floor, and play stout defense. His size and overall skill make the comparisons to Luka just. The 19-year-old has the potential to be an annual All-NBA candidate. He should be a starter from day one and make an immediate impact too.
The Detroit Pistons were jumping for joy when they moved up to win the lottery. Expect them to draft Cade Cunningham. It is a franchise-altering pick that will have them thinking about abandoning their rebuild quickly. Fans should be excited to see Cunningham in the NBA. Expectations will be massive, but the 19-year-old is ready to deliver.
