Best free agent point guards for Dallas Mavericks to target: 2. Derrick Rose

The former MVP was a key part in ending the New York Knicks playoff drought. They made their first appearance since 2012 as Rose reunited with head coach Tom Thibodeau midseason to lift the team.

The 32-year-old only played 35 games with the Knicks. He instantly made his presence felt and helped lead one of the best underdog stories in recent years. Rose averaged 14.9 points and 4.2 assists in 26.8 minutes per game all while coming off the bench.

The three-time All-Star is heading into what will be his 14th season in the NBA. At this point in his career, one would think he has his eyes set on winning. Pairing up with Luka Doncic in Dallas would make a whole lot of sense.

Although he will be 33 by the start of next season, Rose still has a lot of basketball ahead of him. In five playoff games in 2021, he logged 35 minutes per game. He also shot nearly 50 percent from the field and averaged 19.4 points along with five assists per game. Factor in Rose’s leadership and dynamic playmaking ability, he would instantly be an upgrade for the Dallas Mavericks.
