The Dallas Mavericks were forced to make two key moves before the offseason officially gets underway. The departures of Donnie Nelson and Rick Carlisle shook up the organization’s leadership, but the Mavs moved quickly to replace them. Nico Harrison is the team’s new general manager with Jason Kidd taking over as head coach. The Mavericks also added Dirk Nowitzki as a special advisor to join Mark Cuban and Michael Finley as the organization’s five decision-makers.

Dallas will now shift their focus to improving their roster. Luka Doncic is a superstar and top-five player in the league. The Mavs have the most difficult piece, but they need to get him additional help if Dallas wants to jump into title contention. Luka’s eligible for a rookie max extension this summer, and how much the new front office improves the roster could be the key to keeping him long-term.

The Mavericks are set to have cap space this offseason. They can create $34 million if Josh Richardson opts out and the organization declines Willie Cauley-Stein’s option. Who could Dallas sign? Let us take a closer look.
