Shooting guard for Dallas Mavericks to target: 5. Danny Green
Stop me if you have heard this before, Danny Green is back on the open market and the Mavs need a 3-and-D wing. There has been mutual interest between the two parties in the past.
Green played in 69 games with the Philidelphia 76ers during the 2020-2021 season. He averaged 9.5 points, 3.8 Rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.3 steals in 28.0 minutes per game.
The 34-year-old is recognized as one of the top 3-and-D players in the league. He has won three championships with three different franchises. Green was never a primary option on those teams, but he was a vital role player that made crucial plays. Dallas needs playoff experience and a veteran that knows what it takes to win a title.
Danny Green isn’t a secondary ball-handler or shot creator, which is what the Mavs must acquire, but he would be an upgrade over Josh Richardson. J-Rich has an $11.6 million player option for next season. If he opts out, Green could fill his role with ease.
Danny Green has constantly been linked to the Dallas Mavericks, but he has always gone elsewhere. Could this finally be the year that he comes to Dallas?
