The Dallas Mavericks have not won a playoff series since their historic championship run in 2011, but this offseason enters with new hope.
In wake of firing long-time general manager Donnie Nelson and head coach Rick Carlisle resigning, the Mavs have brought in new but somewhat familiar faces. Nico Harrison is the new general manager, Jason Kidd became the head coach, and last but not least, they brought back fan-favorite Dirk Nowitzki as a special advisor.
The new front office has been blessed with the talents of Luka Doncic to build around. Finding talent to put around the 22-year-old superstar reaches a new level of importance because he is entering the last season of his rookie contract.
Shooting guard free agents for the Dallas Mavericks to target this offseason
Putting as much talent as the Mavericks can around Luka before he signs his supermax contract is a must if the team wants to jump into title contention. This free-agent class is not loaded with superstar talent, but it features a bunch of second-star types.
Kawhi Leonard is the only superstar free agent this summer, but most believe he will remain with the Clippers. The next group includes Chris Paul, DeMar DeRozan, Kyle Lowry, and Mike Conley. They are all fantastic talents that fill a need for the Mavs. Will they be interested in coming to Dallas? That is one of the major questions of the summer.
Today, let us focus on just the shooting guard position with the top five free agents the Dallas Mavericks should target.
