Team that could acquire Kristaps Porzingis from Dallas Mavericks: 4. Kings
Consider this a sleeper pick. The Sacramento Kings have five former lottery picks on their roster but still finished 12th in the Western Conference and ten games below .500. They should be looking to shake things up this offseason.
Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes, and Marvin Bagley III could all be on the trade block. The Kings plan on building around De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton. Their only center under contract for next season is Damian Jones. Richaun Holmes and Hassan Whiteside are unrestricted free agents. The Kings will need to add a starting-caliber five this offseason.
Could they make more playing time for Haliburton by dealing Buddy Hield for a center? Hield is owed more than $63 million over the next three seasons, but few teams are eager to acquire that deal. The Mavericks want to put floor spacers around Luka Doncic. They could take Hield and use the $10 million in savings on improving their roster further.
Sacramento needs shooters around Fox. The 23-year-old is a blur in transition and has no issues finishing inside, but has connected on just 32.6 percent of his 890 3-point attempts in his career. Adding Kristaps Porzingis would give the Kings a stretch five to round out their talented roster.
