2021 NBA Draft mock #3: Sacramento Kings: Evan Mobley
The Kings were the biggest riser in the simulated lottery. They jumped up six spots to third overall. Sacramento has not made the playoffs since 2006. Their roster is due for a shakeup, and they have a plethora of important decisions to make this offseason. Starting center Richaun Holmes heads into free agency, but the Kings should be looking for the best player available in the draft.
Many outlets have Mobley as the second overall pick. The seven-foot big man has a rare combination of size and skill. He averaged 16.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.9 blocks in 33.9 minutes per game during his lone season at USC. Mobley is a fantastic dunker and lob threat that has the potential to be a two-way force. He connected on just 30.0 percent of his 40 NCAA 3-pointers, but the 19-year-old could develop into a stretch five in time.
NBA teams are most excited about his defensive potential. Mobley can defend on the perimeter and protect the rim. He has a reported 7’4 wingspan. The teenager will need to add size to be able to defend down low at the next level, but his All-Defensive potential was on full display at USC.
The Sacramento Kings would be ecstatic to jump up and land Evan Mobley in the top three to pair with their young backcourt of De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton.
