2021 NBA Draft mock #2: Houston Rockets: Jalen Suggs
The Rockets had the worst record in the NBA this season, but they slipped one spot in this mock lottery to pick second. They were fortunate to not fall further. Houston owes this pick to Oklahoma City if it falls to fifth in the lottery.
The 2021 NBA Draft has five players that would be worthy of the number one overall selection in most years. The Rockets are in the midst of a total rebuild and will be looking for the best player available. Suggs averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.9 steals in 28.9 minutes per game during his lone season at Gonzaga. The Bulldogs did not lose until the NCAA Finals with Suggs leading their charge.
The 6’4 guard shot 50.7 percent from the field, but made just 33.7 percent of his 104 3-point attempts. Suggs jumper is a work in progress, but the 20-year-old has all the tools to be an All-NBA player. He can score, handle the ball, and make plays. Suggs has the makings of a plus defender, and he never backed down from the most difficult matchup in college.
June 22 will be a massive night for the Houston Rockets. They could add a franchise talent in this draft if they do not fall out of the top four. Rockets fans will be holding their breath during the lottery.
