2021 NBA Draft mock #10: New Orleans Pelicans: Corey Kispert
Kispert may be the best shooter in this draft. He played four seasons at Gonzaga and shot 40.8 percent on 662 career 3-point attempts. Impressively, his percentage improved every year capped by hitting 44.0 percent as a senior as the Bulldogs lost in the NCAA Championship game.
Kispert is more than just a shooter. He averaged 18.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 0.9 steals in 31.8 minutes per game last season. The 6’7 wing plays stout defense and should be ready to contribute from the moment he enters the NBA.
Some teams will knock his age, but Kispert is a deserving top ten pick. He improved every season, has a high basketball IQ, and will provide positive value on both ends of the floor. The 22-year-old profiles a plus-rotation player for the next decade-plus in the NBA.
The New Orleans Pelicans are searching for shooting and defense to flank developing star Zion Williamson. They used him as their primary creator late in the season. New Orleans would love to add a knockdown shooter and stout perimeter defender to play next to Zion. There are higher upside options on the board, but the Pelicans go for need and fit.
