2021 NBA Draft mock #9: Orlando Magic (via Chicago Bulls): Franz Wagner
The Bulls have a top-four protection on this pick, but they failed to jump up meaning the Magic take the selection. It gives Orlando two in the top nine after already selecting Jalen Green at fourth overall in this mock draft. The Magic will be searching for a forward to round out their roster.
Franz is the younger brother and potential future teammate of current Magic forward Moe Wagner. The 19-year-old made significant strides in his second season at the University of Michigan and is posed to be taken in the lottery. He averaged 12.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 block in 31.7 minutes per game.
Wagner displayed some ball-handling and playmaking abilities this season. The 6’9 forward also made significant strides in his outside shooting. Teams will be intrigued by his improvement and impressive skill set.
The Magic finished 29th in offensive rating this season and were 26th in both 3-pointers made and 3-point percentage. Adding Franz Wagner gives them a forward capable of stretching the floor and being a tertiary creator. Orlando improves on both ends of the floor by adding two top ten selections in the 2021 NBA Draft.
