2021 NBA Draft mock #6: Golden State Warriors (via Minnesota Timberwolves): Keon Johnson

Minnesota owes their first-round pick to the Golden State Warriors unless it falls in the top three from the D’Angelo Russell trade. The Timberwolves would love to move up in the lottery but will owe the Warriors an unprotected first in 2022 if they do.

The top five players appear locked in with the order all that could change on draft night. The rest of the first round is up in the air. The Warriors have a difficult decision. Keon Johnson is a unique athlete that could be the 6’5 switchable defender every team covets, but will Golden State select a below-average shooter?

Johnson only took 48 3-point attempts during his lone season at Tennessee and connected on just 13. He tried less than two per game and did not have success. The Dubs want shooters flanking Stephen Curry. Can they pair Johnson with 2020 second overall draft pick James Wiseman and still have the spacing they desire?

Some teams will fall in love with Keon Johnson’s tools and potential. He will be a top ten selection on draft night. Will Golden State value his defense and athleticism over the remaining prospects on the board if they get Minnesota’s pick? It makes a ton of sense as they attempt to climb back up the mountain.
